SMOKE ALARMS

Installation & Regulation Checks

Brisbane and Sunshine Coast Electricians

Smoke alarms save lives, and ensuring that they are working properly is crucial.

Amongst our other electrical services, we can also install and check your smoke alarms.

With new laws coming into effect from January 2022, now is the time to ensure that your current smoke alarms are within the regulations.

Some rules beginning in January 2022 include:

  • Alarms are to be photoelectric

  • They need to be less than 10 years old

  • Alarms are to be interconnected with every other smoke alarm in the dwelling so all activate together.

  • Smoke alarms must be hardwired or powered by a non-removable 10-year battery, or a combination of both may be allowed.

The legislation can be hard to understand, but the team at Big Country Electrical have a thorough understanding and can provide further insight should you need it. This means that we are able to update or install your smoke alarms to follow the new regulations coming into place.
